We, in India, celebrate our Independence Day on 15th August every year. We got our independence from British on 15th August, 1947. It is our National Festival. The day is celebrated nationwide with a spirit of patriotism. The Prime Minister of India unfurls the Indian Flag and addresses to the nation from the Red Fort, Delhi. Schools also conduct flag hoisting ceremony which is followed by cultural programmes.
One of the main festivals of Hindus is Janmashtami that celebrates the birthday of Lord Krishna. It is also known as Krishna Janmashtami, Krishna Jayanthi or Gokulashtami. People celebrate this day with lot of devotion & enthusiasm. They offer prayers and fast on this day. The day is considered as the biggest festival of Shree Krishna’s devotees. Schools in India also organize activities to celebrate the day with great zeal and fervor.
